Just Reached: the absolute lowest point in American Music history

on Mar15 2021

As evidence, I submit the following, which I am loath to do because it is so disgusting, so base, so vile, yet it’s available on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, etc., and as you’ll see, received the American Music Award for Favorite Song Rap/Hip-hop, plus other awards.

What this “song” says about America’s descendance is horrifying. Available to anyone with a computer or smartphone, including – no, emphasizing – America’s youth. We let this tripe run without check although it contains the most execrable, explicit, and defamatory language and activities, including, unapologetically, “nigga,” and ban Dr. Seuss, Mark Twain, and others.

It is also evidence, of course, of how low a significant percentage of our population has sunk. It has also achieved the status of being the most disgusting use of words I have ever read.

Beware: this “song” contains execrable, explicit, and defamatory language and activities, and may cause projectile vomiting.

The big gold lie

on Feb2 2021

I know I’ve asked this question before now, on some other site, but I’m asking again: If gold is going to shoot up in price… if it’s such a terrific buy right now… why in the frick is Rosland Capital, for example, so anxious to get rid of theirs?

So reminiscent of the handicappers at the track, pushing their tip sheets, promising wins and profit. They don’t bet on the horses, because that’s too uncertain; instead they sell the tipsheets to the dummies who don’t know any better.

Follow the bouncing ball, halfwits.

Rosland Capital (and all those other companies trying to sell you precious metals) is eager to sell you something for X dollars. They tell you it’s going to be worth much more than X in the near future. Hmmm. Either a) they’re desperate for immediate cash, b) they’re lying through their teeth, or c) they’re complete idiots.

I vote for “b”.

Not Joe, you buttheads

on Feb2 2021

So someone asked on Fox News if Biden is really in charge, and if not, who is running the country – this on the heels of the announcement that Biden is the most liberal president. Ever.

Well, duh. Anyone who didn’t see that coming has the perceptual capacity of Henry, my Corgi. Actually, that’s an insult to Henry; he just isn’t interested in politics. The DNC selected Biden and told all the others to step down because Joe was the only one that they thought was electable. I certainly saw that, and I wasn’t really paying much attention. I knew if Joe were elected he would just be a puppet for the socialists, would sign anything they put in front of him, and probably wouldn’t last the full four years, giving it up to the flaming radical vice president.

And they didn’t waste a day. Or try to hide it. Boom! Everything “moderate” Joe had promised during the campaign – out the window. The only question remaining is how and when they’re going to get Harris into the presidency.

There are some bright spots, however.

Pearls cast before swine? Eh. Maybe more like pearls buried in the slime. And often from unexpected places. For example:

Have you ever read John Sandford? Yeah, he writes detective stories, not existential essays or epic dramas or dystopian comments on society. But look. His main protagonist, Lucas Davenport, has just made a comment to a young lady about the proclivities of a pedophile. To which the young lady replies “Oh.” And Sandford continues: She had heard of such things but believed them only in the way she believed in her own mortality: a faraway possibility not yet requiring examination.

Sandford, John. Rules of Prey (The Prey Series Book 1) (p. -17).

That’s top level stuff. I’ll add more as I run across them.

How about this one: “she was five-six or so, with a slightly injured smile and nicotine-stained fingers.” A “slightly injured smile”? Gotta love it.

As you might guess, I really, really like John Sandford’s stuff. How about this for introducing us to a character?

RANDY WHITCOMB WAS A HUMAN STINKPOT, a red-haired cripple with a permanent cloud over his head; a gap-toothed, pock-faced, paraplegic crank freak, six weeks out of the Lino Lakes medium-security prison. He hurtled past the luggage carousels at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, pumping the wheels of his cheap non-motorized state-bought wheelchair, his coarse red hair a wild halo around his head.

“Get out of the way, you little motherfucker,” he snarled at a blond child of three or four years. He zipped past the gawking mother and tired travelers and nearly across the elegant cordovan shoe tips of a tall bearded man.

“Out of the way, fuckhead,” and he was through the door, the anger streaming behind him like coal smoke from a power plant.

Where’s Rodney King when you need him?

I remember when Hank Williams, Jr. was excoriated for “comparing Barack Obama to Hitler. OMG! ESPN immediately threw him off of Monday Night Football, which had been, in fact, one of the reasons I tuned in to that program. Loved that song. So what did he say?

This. He called President Obama’s golf game with House Speaker John Boehner “one of the biggest political mistakes ever. It’s like Hitler playing golf with [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu.” Bingo bango bongo, HWJr is instantly persona non grata all over the media. Being a right-leaning middle roader independent, I thought that was a bit of an overreach, but I understood what was happening. Didn’t particularly like or agree with it, but understood it because of the political climate and the media’s consecration of Mr. Obama.

What I don’t understand is people in the media experiencing no repercussions for statements like: “if you’re on Trump’s side, you’re on the Klan side,” calling his constituents white supremacists and racists, comparing him openly to Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, and other terrorists and tyrants. Are they being muzzled, thrown off the air, or at least censured in some way? Uh, no.

Now the vapid and vindictive Nancy Pelosi has led an impeachment in the House, basically accusing Trump of being a terrorist, claiming he incited the riot on the Capitol with his speech. Which, of course, he didn’t. Read the speech; I did. Also consider the fact that at least six separate times Capitol security asked for reinforcements, including the national guard, because they, the FBI, and others had been warned there was going to be a violent demonstration at the Capitol. Of course those requests were ignored, in spite of the intel.

I’m sorry to say I believe at least some of those in charge ignored the requests for reinforcements because they wanted a riot, and the more violent the better, because they could lay it all at Trump’s feet and claim he caused it. How sinister, how low, and how pathetic that is, if true.

Having watched current events with interest and curiosity most of my life, it’s plain to me that the Democrats and the media — particularly the left-leaning ones — simply passionately hate Trump, and have done whatever they could do denigrate, denounce, and disgrace him for the past four years. I’ve never been a Trump fan, have always thought him something of a pompous, narcissistic boob, and was astonished when he got the nomination and was elected. Of course he was lucky to be running against Hilary, who was having her own troubles.

So now we’re pretty much like the Hatfields and McCoys — the democrats hating the republicans, the republicans hating the democrats, and both sides are losing the battle.

Recalls the words of that great ghetto guru, Rodney King, who was apprehended after driving drunk and attempting to evade the police, and was beaten unmercifully when he was finally caught. He looked up at the police who were pounding on him and asked “Why can’t we just all get along?” Incidentally, you might not remember that Rodney was an author and activist who later wrote his memoir titled “The Riot Within,” which was categorized by Amazon for some inexplicable reason as a Criminal Biography. That, of course, was in 2012, evidently before Amazon had fully defined and integrated their moral and social philosophy.

25 killed in 2020 protests

Black Lives Matter.

Of course they do. All lives matter. No group should be singled out and considered immaterial or irrelevant. But isn’t it somehow ironic that in order to make the point that Black Lives Matter we have to kill each other?

This is really a shitty world. Our leaders don’t lead, our legislators don’t legislate, our administrators don’t administrate. Most of our senators and congresspeople care infinitely more about being re-elected to the best job they could ever hope to have than they care about the people, the institutions, and the country they are supposed to serve.

The Corona Virus snafu is a perfect prototypical example, politicized from day one, even to the point of distributing the vaccine, which is being done so incompetently it’s pathetic. But not shocking. Not even surprising. Even with almost a year to come up with a plan, they came up with none.

But their attitude toward the national budget should have made us ready for that: with a solid year to come up with a budget, a task that they must undertake every year, they never accomplish it on time. Every year it’s “Oh, my God, we have to shut down the government because the damn Democrats/Republicans (whichever, depending on the year) are screwing it up!”

Unfortunately, though, as someone said long ago, “Democracy is the worst form of government – except for all the rest.” Of course that’s inaccurate, because this is a Republic and not a Democracy, a distinction which becomes more and more apparent as the people’s representatives continue to screw up the country more and more every year.

I’m an American. Always have been. I’m neither Democrat nor Republican. I love my country. I just want it better taken care of, that’s all.
